One of the great perks of living in Southern California is that winter doesn’t prevent us from going camping.
The evenings and early mornings are cold… cold enough to need gloves and hats… but soon the sun comes out and warms up the day and by 9.30am we are in T-shirts and shorts again.
There’s a beautiful starkness to the wilderness and the places that were green and lush a few months ago are now golden and brown.
The kids play endlessly… making shelters out of sticks, stones and branches.
Someone visited out table in the night and left his tracks in mud on our table cloth… it was great fun discovering what kind of animal he was… the magnifying glass was needed.
We decided he was a grey fox!
This is the magic of Southern California.
Blessings and magic,
Donni

Can you camp year round? We love camping but up here in Washington it’s not a year round activity! But, a road trip would be fun!
And wow…. your tent! And wood stove! Can you please tell me the manufacturer of such a set up?! That would make late and early season camping here much more enjoyable!!
Oh my, I do love camping, but here in Maine I’ve yet to venture out for winter camping. I know folks who do, but I am not so brave, Your camping experience sounds a lot like our fall camping experience-my favorite time of year to camp!
